Prepare to Teach. Shape Young Minds. Lead with Impact.

The Consecutive Bachelor of Education (BEd) at Nipissing University’s renowned Schulich School of Education is a full-time professional teacher education program for students who hold a prior undergraduate degree. Fully accredited by the Ontario College of Teachers, this innovative and rigorous three-term program prepares graduates for classroom leadership through practical coursework and practicum experience. Students choose to specialize in either Primary/Junior (Kindergarten-Grade 6), Primary/Junior French as a Second Language (Kindergarten-Grade 6), Junior/Intermediate (Grades 4-10), or Intermediate/Senior (Grades 7-12) divisions.

Nipissing University’s redesigned Bachelor of Education program combines early school-based experiences, innovative curriculum, and meaningful opportunities to prepare future educators for today’s classrooms. With a May start, you’ll begin your studies online while engaging in school experiences from the very start of the program. For Fall and Winter semesters, you’ll join us on campus for an experience focused on developing the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed for a successful teaching career.

Program Highlights

Throughout the program, students in the Bachelor of Education degree develop the knowledge, skills, and practical experience needed to become confident and effective educators.

Pedagogical Foundations: Engage in coursework covering curriculum development, assessment strategies, child development, and inclusion.

Mentorship & Support: Receive guidance from dedicated faculty advisors and associate teachers throughout the program.

Start in Schools from Day One: At Nipissing, your teaching journey begins immediately. During the spring and summer terms, teacher candidates participate in a school-based observation practicum experience while completing coursework online.

A Curriculum for Today’s Classrooms: The education landscape is evolving. Our curriculum is designed to help future educators lead that change and explore topics including digital literacies, inclusive education, healthy schools, and Indigenous ways of knowing.

I love the Bachelor of Education program because of the focus on group discussions. Being able to hear from other teacher candidates on a variety of topics, allows me to see different perspectives and has given me some great ideas for teaching.

I love the Bachelor of Education program because of how small the class sizes are compared to other Universities. I have had very supportive professors.
