The Master of Science in Kinesiology (MSc) at Nipissing University is a research-intensive, thesis-based graduate program for students interested in advancing knowledge of human movement, health promotion, and applied neuroscience. Areas of focus include outdoor physical activity education, physical activity promotion in Indigenous populations, and sport management, alongside research in biomechanics, ergonomics, exercise physiology, and sport psychology. Students work with expert faculty and access well-equipped laboratories while developing advanced research and analytical skills. Full-time students can complete the program in two years, while a flex-time option of up to four years provides additional flexibility for working professionals and international candidates.

Dr. Mark Bruner, Professor

Faculty of Education and Professional Studies
Dr. Mark Bruner is a Professor of Physical Health and Education at Nipissing University and a Canada Research Chair (Tier II) in Youth Development through Sport and Physical Activity. His research focuses on group dynamics in youth sport, positive youth development, and social identity, supported by SSHRC (Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council) and CIHR (Canadian Institutes of Health Research)-funded projects that explore how sport environments can foster inclusion, leadership, and long-term participation, including in Indigenous and school-based contexts.
